Team Lead, Forward Deployed Engineering
Description
A Bluecore Team Lead, Forward Deployed Engineering is a player-coach role, responsible for the day-to-day tasks of a Forward Deployed Engineer and the operational success of the other Forward Deployed Engineers.
Bluecore’s Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) unit is a client-facing software engineering team dedicated to understanding, advising, and implementing data feeds and website scripts to create and maintain a data ecosystem to power Bluecore’s platform. As FDE, you will bring your technical know-how to the main connections of the Bluecore engine to our clients - drawing meaningful intelligence from their websites and implementing marketing solutions that map to the customer’s vertical, audience behavior and product mix.
Responsibilities
Team Lead
- Recruit, hire, coach, and manage a team of FDEs fostering a culture of communication, learning, and continuous improvement.
- Develop a deep understanding of Bluecore’s technical operations to serve as an escalation for both internal stakeholders and external clients, when necessary.
- Facilitate on the day-to-day of FDE responsibilities, providing guidance, assistance, or escalation as needed to ensure timeliness and quality of our team’s output.
- Fostering innovation and technical excellence. Understand, advocate, and collaborate to identify and drive improvements for our clients or team members.
Forward Deployed Engineer
- Understand Bluecore’s and clients platform, capabilities, and constraints.
- Collaborate with internal team members and clients to align on outcomes, requirements, and any blockers when scoping or performing code updates.
- Write and maintain custom solutions through:
- JavaScript code deployed on clients’ ecommerce websites
- Data ingestion and export jobs in Python and/or SQL
- JavaScript code in Google Cloud Functions to accommodate bespoke third party connections for the purposes of data transfer
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to ensure maximum consistency and accuracy of client data.
Requirements
- 5+ years of full-time work experience at a tech company or a startup
- Experience in developing using a broad range of web technologies, including: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, SQL, REST/SOAP APIs, XML/JSON, tag management, git
- Formal degree, work experience, or personal projects (required)
- Problem-solving skills that enable you to identify and advise the best solutions
- Must be comfortable working day-to- day with cloud-based workflow tools, such as Salesforce, Jira, Google Apps, Airtable, and Slack
- Excellent written and verbal communication
Nice to Haves
- Marketing technology experience Knowledge of eCommerce platforms and Email Service Providers (ESPs)
- Previous leadership experience
